MODELS OF PACKING SEALS FUNCTIONING PROCESSES FOR IMPROVING SEALING MECHANISMS

ABSTRACT

Models of stuffing box seals sealing mechanism with radially deformed and radially movable body and face packing seals have been developed, which characterize the main features of their work. The courses of design improvements which eliminate unevenness of contact pressure of a packing on a shaft are set. Analytical dependences for computation of new seal designs are offered. An example of industrial operation of an improved packing seal design is given.
